From routine flight physicals to the most complex HIMS cases — our practice is built around pilots. We offer depth, speed, and the rare combination of addiction medicine and aviation medicine expertise under one roof.
We perform Class 1, 2, and 3 FAA medical exams with same-day certificate issuance in most cases. Our AME brings genuine clinical depth to every exam — not just a checkbox process.
Our AME holds triple board certification in Occupational Medicine, Addiction Medicine, and Clinical Informatics — with Johns Hopkins training and an OSHA background. One of a rare group of physicians holding both Senior AME and HIMS AME designations in the Bay Area.
Complete your MedXPress application at medxpress.faa.gov before your visit. Bring your confirmation number, photo ID, glasses or contacts if used, and any relevant medical records.
All FAA aviation medical services are fee-for-service. Payment is due at time of service.
Standard Exams
Includes vision, hearing, urine dipstick, vitals, and physical exam. Same-day certificate issuance in most cases.
Required for Class 1 applicants age 40+. First ECG at age 35 for Class 1.
Required for all new FAA Medical applicants. Most previously certified pilots are exempt.
Add-on fee applied at the time of exam when an airman has a Conditions AME Can Issue (CACI) condition requiring review and documentation.
HIMS & Special Issuance
Required before any ongoing HIMS support. Includes case review, history, FAA requirements discussion, and monitoring plan.
Record coordination, specialist liaison, HIMS AME report preparation, and FAA submission. Final cost based on case complexity.
Most AMEs don't take HIMS cases. We built a program around them. If you have an alcohol/substance history, a DUI, or a mental health condition requiring FAA review — our HIMS AME Program gives you a structured, supported pathway through the special issuance process.
Comprehensive history review, case assessment, and FAA requirements mapping. We tell you exactly what your path looks like.
We coordinate with FAA-authorized HIMS psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, and treatment providers to build a complete case package.
Regular check-ins, lab review, treatment provider records, and compliance documentation — all tracked and managed on your behalf.
We prepare and submit your complete HIMS AME report directly to the FAA AMCD, and follow up until resolution.
Board certification in Addiction Medicine means we understand the clinical side of substance use at a depth most AMEs don't. That makes our HIMS documentation more thorough, more credible, and more likely to move through FAA review efficiently.
"The goal is to keep qualified pilots flying safely — not to ground them unnecessarily. We approach every case as an advocate for the airman, within FAA requirements."
